The Bank of Western Australia BankWest was established in 1895 by the Western Australian government. Known then as the Agricultural Bank of Western Australia, it was established to be a rural lender to cater the State's farming industries.
BankWest changed its name in 1994 to The Bank of Western Australia Limited. In 1996 BankWest was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. The Bank of Western Australia is today a wholly owned subsidiary of UK banking and insurance group HBOS plc.
BankWest offers Mastercard, Visa card and Debit Cards to their customers who wish to be able to make purchases with their plastic rather than carry large amounts of cash.
There are several different features associated with BankWest credit cards. From $49 annual fee with up to 55 days interest free benefits for BankWest Lite Mastercard holders.
The BankWest extra Visa Classic credit cards that reward card holders with points for every purchase while charging a lower $29 annual fee and still providing customers the opportunity to enjoy 55 days interest free on purchases.
