Australian Economy Is Thriving
5 November 2007
Speaking to journalists in Canberra, ACCI chief executive Peter Hendy said that the Australian economy is "going gang-busters."
Despite an expected interest rate rise on Melbourne Cup day, Hendry was speaking after the release of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) Business Expectations Survey for November.
The survey shows that business confidence levels are at 13-year highs with investments being made in plant and equipment as the economy continues to flourish.
Meanwhile, the ANZ Survey showed the total number of jobs advertised in Australia last month was a record high since they began the survey in January 1975.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics is expected to release figures on Thursday showing the unemployment rate remaining at a 33-year low last month.
