Beware of Credit Card fraud this Christmas urges Police Chief
9 December 2007
The New South Wales Police Minister, David Campbell, has urged shoppers to be careful with their credit cards this Christmas period.
The festive season is a busy time for fraudsters who like the rest of us, need a little extra cash at this time of year.
The police chief has urged shoppers to be careful with their credit cards whilst using them to make purchases.
"With increasing volumes of sales and transactions - people being very busy - they often drop their caution."
"When you hand over your credit card keep an eye on where it goes, so you can try and avoid it being swiped into an illegal skimming machine,"
"Before you sign off on any transaction or punch in a PIN number, make sure the amount is correct and when using a key pad to provide the pin cover it with your hand so that no one else can see the number," he said.
