Last year, approximately 383,300 Australians lost roughly $1,600 to credit card fraud. There a number of different methods for scammers to gain access to your credit card details. A small Australian company has created a credit card they believe can significantly reduce the amount of credit card fraud. Their newly developed credit card includes an alpha-numeric display, built-in microprocessor, and keypad. Upon entering a PIN into the card, the card flashes a onetime number that authenticates each online credit card transaction.
However many credit cards already offer similar protection for credit cards. One example is the Verified by Visa security system for online shopping.
The Verified by Visa program is a free service offered by Visa. Verified by Visa allows you to make purchases online at participating online stores. Your credit card is automatically identified as being protected by Verified by Visa. You will be required to enter a password and then your online transaction will continue as normal.
