You get what you pay for
Friday March 21, 2008
Credit cards for budgeters may be a better deal if you can't control your spending, but if you are only concerned with the possibility that you may overspend, then you are missing out on excellent reward programs.
Gold credit cards and platinum credit cards cost somewhat more than budget cards, but they offer far greater potential for making a profit on your credit card use. While budget cards can only help you to limit credit card debt, premium cards will actually allow you to come out on top if used correctly.
Credit cards should be used as an alternative means of payment, and not as a casual extension of funds. Never spend beyond your means and you should be able to repay your entire balance before the interest free period expires each month or so. Unlike someone with a budget credit card though, you will have earned reward points on your entire expenditure.
Please see our dedicated comparison pages for more information on premium gold and platinum credit cards.
