Protect your credit cards from fraud
11 July 2008
Any time you use your credit cards, either while shopping or when shopping online, you could be putting yourself at risk of credit card fraud. While your bank does everything they can to protect your credit cards from fraud, you really do have to help them out.
Take steps to help prevent credit card fraud from happening by:
- Keep an eye on your credit cards when making purchases and don't let it out of your sight.
- Don't give out your account number over the phone unless you've contacted the company and made sure they're reputable.
- Don't respond to emails that request the details of your credit cards - these are phishing scams.
- Check to make sure the website is secure when shopping online.
- Protect your PIN and passwords.
- Use online banking to regularly check the statements of your credit cards - if there is something suspicious on there, contact your bank.
With online shopping becoming more popular, more people are using their credit cards to shop. By entering the details of your credit cards online, you are potentially putting yourself at risk.
Compare credit cards to find the best deal for you and remember to protect yourself.
