No annual fee credit cards
15 August 2008
No annual fee credit cards are not a common offering, as they only suit the needs of a very small section of credit card users. This is not because people do not want no annual fee credit cards - on the contrary, credit cards with no annual fee are very appealing. Rather, it is because no annual fee credit cards tend to lack many features.
Interest free credit cards and no annual fee credit cards rarely mix. One of the reasons that no annual fee credit cards can make money at all is because they do not offer interest free days on purchases. No annual fee credit cards will often also have quite high interest rates, so as to ensure that any expenditure made will provide a decent return for the credit card issuer.
If you are looking for a credit card that you can use that will not cost you money to use, then you may want to consider reward program credit cards that include cash back offers. By repaying your credit card within interest free periods on purchases and spending wisely, it is possible to earn enough in reward points to cancel out the annual fee cost of reward program credit cards. While it could potentially cost more if you do not use it frequently enough, correct use could make reward program credit cards function more like no annual fee credit cards.
