Stimulus Package family payments commencing 11th March

Australian families can look forward to receiving their stimulus package payments from 11th March 2009 under the Government's plan to boost the economy and hold off the recession. At the beginning of 2009 the Rudd Government announced its $42 billion Nation Building and Jobs Plan stimulus package to encourage jobs growth and stimulate long term economic growth.
The Family Tax Benefit has been divided into two categories with many expected to benefit from the stimulus package bonus payments. Families will either be grouped into those who may claim the Family Tax Benefit and receive fortnightly payments or those who will wait until the end of the 2008/2009 financial year before they claim.
Presently, there are approximately 1.7 million families that are claiming fortnightly payments from Centrelink while approximately 150,000 families will be receiving their payments, including the stimulus package Family Tax Benefit, at the end of financial year.
For families to receive the stimulus package Family Tax Benefit they do not need to do anything as once a family has registered with Centrelink they will automatically receive the stimulus package bonus payment.
The Government's stimulus package and the Family Tax Benefit are designed to assist in education and associated costs with Australian families.
The key bonus payments for families are:
- $950 Back to School Bonus for 2.8 million children aged 4-18 in approximately 1.5 million families
- $900 Single Income Family Bonus to approximately 1.5 million families with one main income earner
- $950 Training and Learning Bonus for full-time students aged up to 24 whose parent/s receive FTB Part A
